Allegheny County on Friday had the largest drop this month in covid hospitalizations.
According to data from the state Department of Health, there were 190 covid-19 patients hospitalized in the county on Friday, down from 220 on Thursday. That is the lowest amount of hospitalizations in the county since early November.
The death toll increased by 18 on Friday, with the county health department noting there was information “imported by the state from the Electronic Death Reporting System.” Total covid-19 deaths in Allegheny County are now 1,628.
Of the newly reported deaths, ages of the deceased range from people in their 40s to one person over 100, with four deaths associated with long-term care facilities. The breakdown of ages was as follows:
• Two people were in their 40s
• Two in their 60s
• One in their 70s
• Eight in their 80s
• Four in their 90s
• One was more than 100 years old
Dates of death range from Dec. 10 to Wednesday. The county health department noted one death was from December and another was from January.
The county reported an additional 257 covid-19 cases, the most since last Saturday. Cases range in age from 1 to 92, with a median age of 38. Dates of positive tests range from Feb. 6 to Thursday, with three positive tests being more than a week old, per the county health department. The majority of cases (187) were confirmed and 70 were probable.
