A man attempted to break into the visitors’ lobby of the Allegheny County Jail on Saturday morning, police said.

Pittsburgh police detained the man, who police said was suffering from a minor injury. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police said detectives that the man attempted to get into the lobby through various means, which caused “extensive damage to the door.” A police release did not detail what the man did to try to get inside.

Burglary-related charges are being filed against the man, who they did not immediately identify, police said, and he was to be taken into to the jail for arraignment.
