Music and merriment will once again fill the Bethel Park High School campus as the borough hosts its annual Community Day following a pandemic hiatus.
The event kicks off Saturday at 9 a.m. with a parade starting at the borough building, 5100 W. Library Ave., and heads down to Highland Road, onto Bethel Church Road, then Church Road and ends at the high school.
The aforementioned roads will be barricaded during the parade and reopen shortly afterward. Activities are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The campus at 309 Church Road will be packed with more than 60 vendors, including those with food, games, fundraisers, information and more.
“After such a difficult 18 months, it’s such a pleasure to bring back Community Day to the residents of Bethel Park,” said borough manager Laurence Christian. “This tradition provides a much-needed day designed to bring our community together as we support our students in their scholastic and athletic activities. It unites all of Bethel Park and we are proud to host this incredible day once again.”
A variety of community groups will be participating.
Other happenings include airbrush painting, balloon twisters, inflatables and a DJ.
Borough parks and recreation director Charles Stover said organizers have worked very hard to put the celebration together and he is excited to see the fruits of their labor.
“After a very uneasy 2020, we’re excited to bring back this annual Bethel Park tradition of bringing together neighbors, friends and school groups at Community Day,” Stover said.
