LifeSpan’s Chartiers Resource Center for Older Adults will host a trip to Wildwood, N.J., from May 31-June 5.

The cost is $575 per person for a double and includes transportation, hotel, breakfasts, dinners, cruise and tourist attractions.

Carnegie happenings

• Escorted by the Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department, Santa visits Carnegie from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 19. Listen for the siren and see Santa as he rides on a fire truck through local streets.

• Ugly Holiday Sweater Day will be Dec. 20. Wear your most obnoxious holiday sweater while you shop locally. There will be plenty of deals and fun during the event.

• A cookie sale will be from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 21 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 330 Third Ave. Sponsored by the Christian Mothers & Guild, buy homemade cookies just in time for Christmas.

Carnegie library

Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Ave., will host the following events:

• The library and music hall will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and will reopen Dec. 26 at 10 a.m. The library will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 31 and reopen Jan. 2 at 10 a.m.

• Tickets are available for Listen Locally with Roger Humphries and the RH Factor at 8 p.m. Dec. 27. The event will celebrate two Pittsburgh Jazz legends with Roger Humphries and RH Factor’s Tribute to Art Blakey, with special guest, Brazilian vocalist Kenia. Scott library

Scott Township Public Library, 301 Lindsay Road, will host the following events:

• Code, Create, Play for grades K-5 will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19. Code Chromebooks and iPads, experiment with Ozobots, littleBits, Makey Makey and more. Register online.

• Holiday Origami for ages 6-11 will be from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 21. Learn about the art of Japanese paper-folding by making a santa or snowman origami. Snacks provided. Register online.

• The library will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Items being collected for children, veterans

Collier Township Department of Public Works will collect items for Toys for Tots and for veterans through Dec. 22.

New, unwrapped toys and items for vets — including shampoo, deodorant, body wash and warm clothing of all sizes — can be dropped off at the municipal building lobby, public works building, Collier Community Center and Rennerdale VFD. For details, call 412-498-8668.

Police fill backpacks

The Collier Township Police Department is collecting single-serve food items for Chartiers Valley students to take home after school. The Backpack Blessings program is sponsored by Helping Hands of St. Barbara Church, Bridgeville.

Drop-off sites are the Collier Township Police Department and administration building, and Collier Community Center. Needed are nutritious, single-serve items like applesauce cups, fruit cups, nutrition bars, ramen noodles, pretzels, oatmeal packets and pudding cups.
