‘Nutcracker’ auditions
Auditions for dancers, boys and girls, are being held for the annual performance of “The Nutcracker” as presented by the Carnegie Performing Arts Center.
Two weekends of performances are being offered in a full-stage production at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall in Carnegie. Director Monica Ryan choreographs the production, and rehearsals will take place on Saturday afternoons.
Dancers ages 5 through adult are invited to attend the auditions on Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. for ages 5-12 and 3 p.m. for ages 13 and older. The auditions will take place at the studios of the Carnegie Performing Arts Center, 500 Chestnut St.

Historical society programs
Bridgeville Area Historical Society has scheduled programs for the fall:
• “Jeopardy History,” Oct. 25. Presented by Todd DePastino.
• “Corliss Explosion, May 12, 1902,” presented by Dave Aiken, Nov. 29. Learn about the Panhandle Railroad disaster that claimed dozens of lives 120 years ago.
All programs are open to the public. They are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Chartiers Room of the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, 370 Commercial St.
‘Our Tea Is Back’
Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, is hosting an event called “Our Tea Is Back” at 1 p.m. Oct. 15. Doors open at 12:15.
Flavorful teas served with tasty scones, creams, hardy finger sandwiches and delicious desserts will be served. Carnegie’s Dance Ink will provide entertainment.
The tickets are $35 and are sold only in advance. Call Nancy at 412-276-5636 to reserve tickets before Oct. 1.
KOC food drive
St. Raphael the Archangel Knights of Columbus Council 11143 will hold its annual food drive the weekend of Oct. 1-2 to benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.
Food can be dropped off anytime and placed in the narthex of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 330 Third Ave., Carnegie. Knights will be present Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accept donations. Checks for monetary donations should be made payable to the St. Raphael SVdP.
College Club meets
The College Club of Carnegie will meet Oct. 1 at Scoglio’s Restaurant, 661 Anderson Drive, Green Tree. A social at 11:30 a.m. is followed by a luncheon served at noon.
The meeting features a craft demonstration. A Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle will be held to benefit the club’s scholarship fund.

South Hills Women’s Club
The South Hills Women’s Club meets at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Scott Park Lodge, Scott Township.
The guest presenter is Todd DePastino, who will speak about the Salem Witch Trials.

Healing services
Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, will conduct healing services that welcome the public.
The services, with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, will be held at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month, starting Oct. 4.
‘Haunted’ tours in Carnegie
The Haunted Walking Tours of Carnegie has been offering popular haunted history tours since 2017. Created by Melanie Luke, owner of the former shop the Flying Squirrel, the tours have continued after the shop’s closure.
The walking tour is a 1-mile loop with average tour times of one hour, featuring 10 stops with 10 true stories of the macabre, as told by enthusiastic docents. The tour also features access to two haunted buildings (one is tour-exclusive), a cemetery scavenger hunt for tombstone insignia, hands-on fun with “ghost nets” and a few surprises.

Church hosts concert series
Academy Concerts has teamed with Unitarian Universalist Church of the South Hills, 1240 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, for a 2022-23 concert series.
