Kindergarteners in the Chartiers Valley School District gave a special thank you to area police officers while also learning more about the profession.

On Oct. 1, three kindergarten classrooms at Chartiers Valley Primary School participated in a “Coffee with Cops” event as part of the district’s “World of Work” career exploration program, said Principal Deidra Stepko.

“The learning framework is designed to expose students to a wide variety of careers by engaging them in hands-on learning experiences aligned with their interests and skills,” Stepko said.

Officers from the district’s municipalities — Bridgeville, Collier, Heidelberg and Scott — talked to students about their roles, answered questions and shared how they serve the community, Stepko said.

Officers also gave students a look at their vehicles and some of the tools they use in their daily work.

“The event gave our young learners the chance to connect their classroom exploration to real-world professionals, helping them see the value of safety, service and teamwork in our community,” Stepko said.

“This is one example of how Chartiers Valley School District is inspiring career curiosity and building meaningful connections for even our youngest learners.”
