Historical Society presentations set
The Bridgeville Area Historical Society has scheduled presentations through June.
On April 30, Gary Euler will present “The Life and Times of Roberto Clemente.” On May 28, Layla Asbury, a 16-year-old sophomore at Chartiers Valley High School, will lead a presentation on the relationships of presidents and their wives.
On June 25, Glenn Flickinger will talk on the story of the Berlin Airlift.
All programs begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Programs are held at the Chartiers Room in the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, Commercial Street, Bridgeville.
Bridgeville Lions Club seeks new members
The Bridgeville Greater Area Lions Club is actively seeking new members.
The club supports the communities of Bridgeville, Collier, Heidelberg and South Fayette. Relief causes include diabetes, vision care, hunger, environment and childhood cancer.

Collier revises meeting times
Township meetings in Collier will start a little bit earlier.
The board of commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. for both workshop meetings, held the second Monday of each month and regular meetings, held the fourth Monday of each month. Additional meetings, as needed, may be held every Monday.
Planning commission meetings will also start at 5 p.m. The planning commission meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
Meetings are held at the township’s Municipal Building, 2418 Hilltop Road, unless otherwise advertised.
Bake sale on tap
The Bridgeville Area Historical Society is holding a spring bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 10 and 11.
Enjoy food and spend time with friends from local communities in the old railroad station at the corner of Station and Railroad streets in Bridgeville.
College Club of Carnegie to meet
The College Club of Carnegie will meet May 4, at Bella’s, 91 Fort Couch Road.
There will be a social at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon. The theme of the meeting is “Kentucky Derby Daze.”
Auction items and a 50-50 raffle benefiting the scholarship fund will be offered.

Collier Knight School
The Knight School of Pittsburgh will be offering chess camp at the Collier Township Recreation Center, 5 Lobaugh St., Oakdale.
Session dates are from June 24 through 28 or Aug. 5 through 9, both from 1 to 4 p.m. Children ages 5 to 11 are eligible. The cost is $170 for members and $190 for non-members.

Carnegie Fire Department 5K on April 27
The annual Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department 5K run and walk will be held April 27 at 8 a.m.
The cost is $25, and people can register online at carnegieborough.com or by calling the borough at 412-276-1414. Registration is also available race day beginning at 7 a.m.
Prizes are available for overall male and female winners and the top three men and women finishers in eight age categories.
Scott Township sidewalk improvements
State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Pittsburgh, has announced a $127,764 grant for sidewalk improvements in Scott.
Sidewalk improvements will be along Bowerhill Road, and the sidewalks from Rockhill Road to Painters Run Road will be replaced.
Grant funding comes from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
Taste of Carlynton to be held April 29
Taste of Carlynton, a fundraiser for the Carlynton Education Foundation, will be held April 29, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Chartiers Country Club.

Listen locally with Maureen Renihan at Carnegie Library
A musical program with Maureen Renihan will be held May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall.
Renihan connects with audiences with her honesty through song, and evokes the charm of an era influenced by vocalists including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.

Scott fireworks show
Scott inked a deal with Pyrotecnico Fireworks, Inc., to provide the fireworks display for the township’s Fourth of July celebrations this summer and next.
Pyrotecnico has provided the displays in Scott for the past two years. This year’s display will last about 20 minutes and will cost $12,650.
Carnegie Crawl returns downtown
An annual staple, the Carnegie Crawl returns to downtown Carnegie beginning May 10, from 5 to 9 p.m.
The event occurs every second Friday through October. Downtown businesses will offer discounts, food trucks and live music.
Scott Park Spring Fling
Scott Township is hosting its first Spring Fling on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the township’s park, 1 Park Drive, Carnegie.
The event will feature crafts, vendors, children’s activities and food vendors.

Collier Kids Club
Collier Kids Club’s Mommy and Me event is scheduled for May 1, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Collier Township Recreation Center, 5 Lobaugh St., Oakdale.
Collier Kids Club engages children in learning activities that include songs, dancing, movements, art and more.
Children ages 3 to 5 are eligible. The cost is $5 for members orf $6 for non-members. Register by April 30 by calling 724-693-0780.
Students recognized by Rotary Club
Six Chartiers Valley Middle School students were recognized for academic achievements by the Bridgeville-South Fayette Rotary Club during its annual middle school recognition and college scholarship luncheon.
Students recognized were Bryce Majeski, Grace Kulbago, Alexa Svirbly, Jamison Farrell, Brianna Kuczinski and Steve Monteverde.
