Annual Rose Pruning Demonstration
The Pittsburgh Rose Society will be holding its Annual Rose Pruning Demonstration on April 10 from 1-3 p.m. Bad weather date will be on April 17.
The pruning event will be held at the rose gardens of Bill Dorn, president of the Pittsburgh Rose Society, located in Windgap (near Crafton/Kennedy Township).
Consulting rosarians will be on hand to instruct visitors in the correct and effective way of pruning all types of roses. Learning will be hands-on. Participants are asked to bring their own gloves and pruners. Social distancing will be observed and face masks are required.

Military, veteran banner program
Each year from Memorial Day to Veterans Day, South Fayette will display banners along roads to recognize its residents, past and present, who serve or have served in any branch of the U.S. military. Submit a photo, application and payment by April 12 to ensure public display by Memorial Day.

Flea market sale
Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave. in Carnegie, is hosting a flea market from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 23-24. The market will be closed on April 24 from noon until 1 p.m. for lunch prior to reopening for the bag sale at 1 p.m. There will be kitchen items, linens, lamps and more.

Road closure
Traffic detours and restrictions will occur from March 22 until November for improvements to the intersection of Boyce and Mayview roads in South Fayette Township.
The first road closure will be Mayview Road, West Side (Cecil Side). The road will be closed from March 22 until late July.
Farmers market volunteers
The Green Tree Farmers Market begins May 20. Volunteers are needed to help with various tasks from setting up, tearing down, or helping in between. Flexible volunteer times available. Community service hours are available for high school volunteers.

In-Person Summer Playground Camp
Enjoy park playgrounds, crafts, sports, games and more at South Fayette Township’s nine-week Summer Playground Camp for children ages 5-12. The camp will be held from June 14-Aug. 13.
Masks and daily health screenings are required of all staff members and campers.
Campers can choose to attend half-day sessions, which are $10 per session, per child or full-day sessions, which are $20 per day.
