Women’s Business Network

Glass recycling

Pennsylvania Resources Council’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program, which provides a free recycling service that rotates through a variety of locations in the region, will be at the South Fayette Municipal Building from Sept. 4-9. Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required). Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on. Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site. For more information, visit prc.org/glassrecycling.

Sugarcreek bus trip

South Fayette Township Parks and Recreation is hosting a bus trip on Oct. 6 to Sugarcreek, Ohio, for a day of entertainment, food and shopping in this village known for its blend of Swiss heritage and Amish culture.

The bus departs at 7 a.m. from the South Fayette Township Senior Center (back entrance of the municipal building), 515 Millers Run Road, and returns at 8 p.m.

The cost is $105 a person and includes motorcoach transportation; a ticket to the musical comedy “The Best of Me” at the Ohio Star Theatre; lunch and shopping at Dutch Valley; and a visit to Coblentz Chocolates.

Evelsizer Family 5K

The FBI National Academy, Western Pennsylvania Chapter, and South Fayette Township are hosting the Evelsizer Family 5K Sept. 26 at Fairview Park.

The course will include roads and grass. Race check-in will take place 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Fairview Rotary pavilion. The race will begin at 10 a.m.

Live music, raffles and food trucks will start at 10:30 a.m. and run until 1 p.m.

The race honors Mark Evelsizer, a lifelong, active member of the FBI National Academy, and his wife, Marty, who recently died after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Proceeds from this race will benefit the FBI National Academy, Western PA Chapter, for training, scholarships and other future events.

Registration is $25. Race registration runs through Sept. 10.

Preregistration is required and no day-of-event registration will be accepted.

Blood drive

Collier and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive 2-7 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Collier Community Center on Lobaugh Street. To make an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org.

Coffee with the chief

Chat in person with South Fayette Township Police Chief John Phoennik and share comments, questions and concerns. All citizens are welcome. The free event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 16 at Dunkin’ in South Fayette, 179 Millers Run Road. Donuts and coffee provided.

Carnegie Farmers Market

The Carnegie Farmers Market will take place every Sunday on East Main Street between Broadway and Mary from noon to 3 p.m. through Sept. 26, with more than 40 vendors.

Shoppers will have the ability to use SNAP and WIC benefits to purchase produce.

Ukrainian Food Festival

The Parish of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Carnegie will host the 10th Annual Ukrainian Food Festival 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 1-2.

The festival will feature delicious homemade Ukrainian foods and pastries, basket raffle, church talk and tours will take place at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. each day.
