Chartiers Valley seeks images for Athletic Legacy Wall
Give the gift of immortality.
Well, not literally. But starting Nov. 29, Chartiers Valley School District is providing the opportunity to purchase space to display images of sporting Colts, past and present, on an Athletic Legacy Wall.
“What we’re asking people to do is, share your pictures with us,” Angela Conigliaro, director of communications and strategic partnerships, said. “There is a limit, but there’s a lot of room, because we have a really big wall.”
The district is working with the Crafton signage firm Novum Designs, which has submitted a series of renderings depicting the wall’s possible appearance.
“They can use a yearbook photo. It doesn’t have to be a digital image or printed-out picture,” Conigliaro said about members of Novum’s staff. “They have the capability to really make some magic happen with some of these old photos.”
When the district embarked on a reconstruction project at the middle and high schools, which was completed in 2019, several areas of the campus were not addressed in the original scope, including sports facilities.
A subsequent bond issue is providing money for further work, and district officials decided to include the Athletic Legacy Wall, to be located outside the high school gymnasium as a way to honor outstanding individuals and teams while getting the public involved.
“It’s something that’s new to us,” Conigliaro said. “Our hope is that it’s a huge hit, and next up would be, say, a performing arts wall photo.”
Space on the Athletic Legacy Wall can be purchased in various sizes: 36 by 24 inches, $350; 24 by 18 inches, $225; 18 by 12 inches, $100; and 45-by-60-inch image cutout, $500.
Space is being sold on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit www.cvsd.net.
