Traffic was delayed significantly along the Parkway East in Pittsburgh on Thursday morning after at least two crashes and a fuel spill.

Crashes and a diesel fuel spill caused the inbound Parkway East in Pittsburgh to be closed for a time Thursday morning.

There were believed to be at least two separate crashes after the Squirrel Hill tunnel between Bates Street and the Boulevard of the Allies, Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV reported.

One crash involved two cars, the other two trucks.

A large diesel fuel spill was also reported.

Shortly before 7 a.m., one inbound lane was reopened approaching the Boulevard of the Allies, but only traffic stuck in the backlog was being allowed through, WPXI reported. All inbound traffic at the tunnel was being exited at Squirrel Hill.

An outbound lane was also blocked by emergency responders, WPXI reported.
