Firefighters responding to a fire at house in McKees Rocks early Sunday evening took about 40 minutes to extinguish the flames but remained on scene to put out hot spots that erupted, according to authorities.
The fire was reported in the 700 block of Fruit Way at 5:50 p.m., an Allegheny County 911 supervisor said.
The house is a couple of blocks from the McKees Rocks Bridge. Two cross streets near the fire scene — Raymond and Churchill — are closed to vehicle traffic.
No information about whether anyone was inside the house was available. Nobody was transported from the scene for medical treatment, officials said.
Firefighters reported seeing heavy fire coming from the top floor of the two-story frame building. Within 15 minutes fire officials reported that the flames where burning through the floor.
Flames continued to spread through the building, burning through the attic and weakening the front porch until firefighters were able to bring it under control shortly after 6:30 p.m., authorities reported.
Crews remained on scene to sift through the rubble to extinguish hot spots, officials said.
