2 Fox Chapel rowers selected for Olympic Development Program

Two Fox Chapel Area athletes will attend the invitation-only USRowing Olympic Development Program.
Ainsley Good, who rows for Fox Chapel Crew Club, and Lulu McCrady, who rows for Three Rivers Junior Rowing, were among 40 athletes selected from the Midwest and Central regions to attend the training camp in Pittsburgh and the subsequent racing camp in Sarasota, Fla.
The local camp, which runs for three weeks, is hosted by Three Rivers Rowing Association on the Allegheny River.
Good and McCrady were selected because of their strong indoor rowing ergometer times and on-the-water results, said Matt Grau, MidWest/Central Women’s head coach.
“Especially given their relative youth within the sport,” he said.
Athletes from across the region arrived in Pittsburgh on June 16 and trained for three weeks, rowing up to three times a day from the Millvale Boathouse.
Participants will travel to Florida on July 7 for a weeklong racing component on the world-class venue at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota.
Grau said that USRowing this year instituted the training to prepare the top U17 and U18 talent in the region for national and international competitions.
