Blawnox voters won’t see a contested race for council in the May primary, according to the Allegheny County Elections Bureau.

There are three candidates, all Democrats, vying for three open seats. Each term runs four years.

The primary election is May 21.

Candidates for council include:

• John Simmons, of Freeport Road. Simmons is a nearly 30-year member of the Blawnox Volunteer Fire Company and was appointed to council in 2017 to fill a vacancy.

• Katie Coban, of Freeport Road. Coban has served three terms on council, since 2008.

• Elaine Palmer, of Summit Drive. Palmer is a 23-year resident of the borough and was appointed to council in 2018 to fill a vacancy.

Barring a strong write-in campaign by another person, the trio will win their party’s nomination in May to run in the General Election in November.
