Here are some of the week’s top stories from around the Lower Valley:

Libraries will welcome patrons back Oct. 1. Cooper-Siegel and Sharpsburg community libraries will reopen to patrons after being shut down for six months because of coronavirus concerns.

Each site will operate with limited capacities. Cooper-Siegel will allow 20 guests at once, while Sharpsburg will be allowed to have 10 people inside browsing the shelves and using computers.

Adult education courses offered remotely.

Fox Chapel Area Adult Education will be offered entirely online for the fall semester. More than 30 courses will be offered through Zoom.

It is the first time since the program was founded in 1963 that something like this has happened, leaders said.

Free yoga every week in Sharpsburg’s Kennedy Park. Sharpsburg native Francine Porter offers free Vinyasa yoga at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays on the park lawn. It is for people of all ages and abilities.

New water feature coming to Aspinwall park.

The spray fountain at the playground along Field Avenue will be replaced with new sprinklers. The cost is about $73,000 and includes work on the nearby slide.
