ABC Transit celebrating end of school year with free community event in Shaler
ABC Transit will celebrate the end of the school year by asking folks to swing on by its Shaler terminal in June.
The transportation and school bus company will host a free event for the community and their staff that they’re calling “Crash My Party” from noon to 4 p.m. June 7 at the terminal at 120 Evergreen Ave.
The name comes from the title of Luke Bryan’s fourth studio album, “Crash My Party,” and its title track, ABC Transit spokeswoman Allison Acuna said.
It’s being called that because those attending will have a chance to win, from Froggy 104.3, a pair of tickets to Bryan’s Aug. 2 show at The Pavilion at Star Lake.
While students will be celebrating the end of classes and the start of summer, ABC Transit will be marking the successful transportation of 35,000 students during the 2024-25 school year, Acuna said.
That tally includes students from the Shaler Area, North Hills, Fox Chapel Area, Pittsburgh Public and Highlands school districts along with Central Valley, Freedom Area, Aliquippa, Ambridge, Seneca Valley, Sto-Rox, Moniteau and the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, Acuna said.
“This was a really successful year,” she said. “Our drivers work pretty tirelessly. They don’t make a whole lot. We want everyone to come together in a safe, affordable way.”
The event is open to everyone. There will be food trucks, music and games along with bounce houses, carnival games, face painting, a foam party and pony rides.
People also will be able to check out job opportunities while there.
