About 200 youngsters stepped up to the plate June 15 for Opening Day of Aspinwall Tee Ball.

As a special treat, the borough sponsored a visit by the Pirate Parrot, who kicked off the season with a lot of laughs.

The program, in its second year, runs for 10 Saturdays through Aug. 17 at the recreation fields off Field Avenue in Aspinwall.

It aims to teach children ages 3 to 9 the fundamentals of America’s favorite pastime and emphasizes good sportsmanship.
