Aspinwall residents are encouraged to open their doors, set up tables and meet community members at the annual town-wide yard sale.
The two-day event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 11 and 12.
No permits or registration is required to participate.
“It brings new people to Aspinwall and it’s a great event for the neighborhood,” said borough manager Melissa Lang O’Malley. “It serves as a way for neighbors to meet one another.”
The Aspinwall Civic Association formalized the event 18 years ago as a way to bring people into town and the business district.
O’Malley said there has not been a designated coordinator since, and things have slowed down the past few years due to the pandemic. She hopes more people will participate this time around.
“This year we expect a higher attendance,” she said. “In the past, a hundred or more people would show up to shop over the two-day event.”
Council President Tim McLaughlin said he plans to make the rounds and see what items are available.
“I’m a big fan of these informal relaxed type of events,” he said. “Many events we do require a lot of time and energy from the borough staff. The yard sale is a great way for residents to mingle and meet each other, clean out their houses, and find some treasures.”
McLaughlin said he has fond memories of stopping by residences with the family.
“I’ve been here for 20 years and it’s been going on for as long as I can remember,” he said. “I still have an old circular end table that has a pretty marble inlay. It was a nice find at a friends house on Brilliant (Avenue).”
