More than $20,000 will be split among Aspinwall’s first responders, thanks to the most successful National Night Out in the borough’s 10-year event history.

Hosted by Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch, the event on Aug. 6 drew 1,200 revelers to the community ball fields for a night of appreciation for emergency responders.

Neighborhood Watch President Jenny Ellermeyer credited continued growth and success to what she said is tremendous support from local businesses as well as a dedicated group of volunteers.

She said 50 businesses sponsored the event and more than two dozen volunteers typically spend months planning the festival-like event.

Proceeds will be split among Aspinwall Volunteer Fire Department, Foxwall EMS and the borough police department.
