Sharpsburg Community Library will have a Science in the Summer camp through the Carnegie Science Center in July. Registration is open online.

Elementary school students in the Lower Valley can spend a week at the Sharpsburg Community Library learning more about DNA, food as fuel and biological blueprints.

The Science in the Summer Camp, hosted by Carnegie Science Center, will be July 22-25 at the library, 1212 Main Street.

The experiment-oriented sessions are free and aimed at children in grades two-six.

The four-day camp will explore biological systems that make humans alike and the elements that interact to create differences, organizers said.

There will be plenty of hands-on discovery through which children will learn how the body uses food and oxygen, and, how DNA works.

Children in grades two and three will meet from 3 to 4 p.m.; those in grades four to six will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Space is limited. Register online at coopersiegelcommunitylibrary.org/events or in person.
