Fox Chapel Area High School Football Booster volunteers are tackling ongoing fundraising efforts with a music-filled event in September.

The “Farewell Summer” Concert Festival is scheduled for Sept. 3 at the Dive Bar & Grille in Indiana Township.

The summer fundraiser returns after a successful inaugural event last summer, but Boosters volunteer Lori Kuhn of Aspinwall said that this year, organizers are hopeful the concert will attract their largest audience yet.

The event is rain or shine and FCAHS alumni are encouraged to attend.

The concert is suitable for all ages.

“It’s really a group effort from the volunteer parents,” Kuhn said.

Last year’s concert raised about $2,000 and this year’s goal is $5,000.

Monies raised help to purchase both varsity and junior varsity team clothing, pre-game meals, practice jerseys, provide meals and drinks during summer training, and to fund the end-of-the-year banquet.

The fundraiser will benefit the football team that includes 67 varsity players and 47 seventh and eighth graders.

“The Quarterback Club funds items for the team that are not provided by the school district,” Kuhn said.

Fox Chapel’s high school football achievements include section championships in 1977, 1983, 1984 and 1997.

Head coach is David Leasure.

Fox Chapel Area senior tight end/linebacker Troy Susnak of Fox Chapel said he’s appreciative of the booster’s enthusiastic efforts.

“Their tireless in providing us with whatever we need to be successful and it’s greatly appreciated by both the players and the coaching staff,” Susnak said. “In particular, our team looks forward to the team meals. They’re always very tasty and the time during the meal is spent making final adjustments and bonding with teammates.”

New this year is an all-ages corn hole tournament.

Participants are guaranteed a minimum of six games and the payout will be based on the number of entries.

The cost to play is $20 per person.

Basket raffles and a 50/50 will be offered.

Scheduled musical acts include DJ Scar, reggae group Ras Prophet and the Tina Daniels Band, playing rock n roll mixed with blues.

“Everything the team needs to play their sport is provided by the district. The Boosters step in with financial support and services that make the experience better,” Kuhn said.
