Construction on a new Chase Bank in O’Hara is moving forward, with an opening expected late this year, bank officials said.
Work at the site along Fox Chapel Road was temporarily stalled during a state-mandated shutdown for coronavirus concerns, but resumed in May.
“The branch is slated for a Q4 opening,” Ashlei Bobo, Chase vice-president of regional communications, said.
The opening is one of 10 branches scheduled to open in Allegheny County this year.
Dates have yet to be finalized as they may need adjusted slightly, Bobo said.
Gov. Tom Wolf shut down most construction projects when he ordered non-life-sustaining businesses closed because of the pandemic. As part of a plan to gradually reopen the economy, construction work was permitted to resume May 1.
Construction crews must now wear masks and have hand-washing stations at sites, according to guidelines laid out by Wolf.
Everyone at the site must also practice social distancing.
The Chase Bank will take the place of the longtime former tenant, Ward’s Sunoco, at 50 Fox Chapel Road.
It is close to the heavily-traveled section near Fox Chapel Plaza and the Freeport Road intersection.
Some highlights of the new branch include a drive-up ATM, along with a 24-hour ATM vestibule where customers can perform about 75 percent of routine transactions. The 3,000-square-foot building will be a full-service site.
