Fish Rodeo for Veterans at O’Hara’s Squaw Valley Park

The seventh annual Fish Rodeo for Veterans was hosted May 8, 2019 at Squaw Valley Park in O’Hara.

The weather couldn’t have been better for the seventh annual Fish Rodeo for Veterans on Wednesday at Squaw Valley Park in O’Hara.

Dozens of hospitalized veterans were transported for a day at the park, thanks to Morningside VFW Post 3945. Members have been hosting the festivities every year in an effort to give veterans a day with friends.

There’s a barbecue cookout, prizes, gift bags and, of course, fishing.

Post Commander John Santoriello said the men and women appreciate the day away from the hospital.

VFW members stock the pond prior to the fishing event and patients are transported from Veterans Affairs facilities across the region to the park along Fox Chapel Road.

Veterans take home a bag of toiletries, socks and coupons to use at the VA store.
