A triple play in Cooperstown, New York will be among the highlights for the Fox Chapel 12U boys baseball team which competed this week in a national tournament at the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

“The underdog role motivated the team and, after a slow start, we hit full stride,” Coach Chad O’Brien said. “We topped off with an improbable 11-2 win against a team from Maryland that was seeded No. 2 out of 60 teams.”

The Foxes traveled to All Star Village in Cooperstown to compete against top-ranked teams from across the United States and Canada.

The all-star team was selected in October and has been training together since in preparation for this week.

O’Brien said that going against some of the top teams in the country, the team’s motto since the start has been, “why not us?”

The team is currently 3-3 and is heading into the elimination rounds this weekend.
