Dorseyville Middle School 2022-2023 sixth-grader Rishabh Krishnamurthy placed in the national MathCON Finals.

Rishi was one of 628 finalists fchosen from 26,000 students from the United States and Canada to compete in the finals. He was selected based on his score on an online math assessment taken in the spring. In the national competition, Rishi ranked 39th among all sixth-grade students and received an honorable mention.

The finals were held in Chicago in May.

MathCON’s goal is to engage students in STEM — science, engineering, technology and math — outside of the classroom and encourage more students to enter the STEM fields.

The Fox Chapel Area High School team of 2022-2023 junior Adhitya Thirumala and 2022-2023 sophomore Moonyoung Hwang advanced to the octofinal elimination round in Policy Debate at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Tournament. The team placed 11th out of 76 policy debate teams from across the nation.

The national tournament was held May 27-28 in Louisville.

The Fox Chapel Area High School preschool program is open for enrollment for the fall 2023 semester. Preschool class will be held Monday-Thursday beginning Sept. 11 and ending Dec. 19.

The class will be held at Fox Chapel Area High School from 8:15-10:45 a.m. and the cost will be $90 per semester. Parents/guardians enrolling for both semesters up front will pay a total of $175.

A full program will include language arts, math, science, and art through lessons and activities taught by the high school students. The preschoolers will also have snack time, story circle time, and a large muscle activity each day.
