Fox Chapel Area students to host telethon to benefit Fox Families Care
Fox Chapel Area School District students will host their 32nd annual telethon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 23 to raise money for Fox Families Care.
Fox Chapel Area High School’s Student Government and the school’s digital media production students plan and produce the event, which will involve students from all six schools in the Fox Chapel Area School District — Fairview, Hartwood, Kerr and O’Hara elementaries; Dorseyville Middle School; and Fox Chapel Area High School.
Student, teacher, parent and community representatives also participate by making donations during the live event. The public can make donations through the website at https://www.foxfamiliescare.org/donatenow.
The telethon will be streamed live on the Swift Fox Media YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/swiftfoxmedia. The link to the broadcast also will be available on the district’s website at www.fcasd.edu and at its Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/foxchapelarea. Anyone can watch the telethon any time after the live broadcast on the Swift Fox Media YouTube Channel.
Fox Families Care taps community resources to help students and their families in the Fox Chapel Area School District. Fox Families Care has provided backpacks and school supplies; clothing, shoes and winter coats; computers and eyeglasses and gift cards to Giant Eagle, Wal-Mart and Target. It also has provided bedding and holiday gifts.
The students in the Fox Chapel Area School District have donated more than $918,386 to various local and regional charities through their annual telethon over the past 31 years. Last year’s telethon for the Sharpsburg Community Library raised $16,433.
