Fox Chapel Presbyterian seeking donations for Harvest Fair

Collections are underway for the much-anticipated yearly fundraiser at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church.
The Harvest Fair, hosted this year on Sept. 27-28, is accepting donations Mondays through Saturdays.
The event has been hosted more than 60 years in an effort to support local outreach efforts.
In 2018, the fair brought in more than $78,000 for groups like Sharpsburg food pantry, Hosanna Industries and East Liberty Family Health Center.
Some of the money goes overseas to missions in Haiti and Thailand as well.
Volunteer Carol Huff said the Harvest Fair committee is seeking donations that include clothing, furniture, small appliances, books, sports equipment, décor and jewelry.
Items should be new or gently used.
They are accepted 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The church is at 384 Fox Chapel Road but items should be taken to the hall entrance off Springhouse Lane in the rear of the church.
No TVs, computers, luggage, pillows or large exercise equipment will be accepted.
That the fair went off in 2018 is proof of how deeply it is loved, Huff said.
It took shape despite a July 2 flood that devastated the spacious sale rooms and ruined collections in waiting.
Volunteers filled Dumpsters with would-be sale items but just like that, as soon as rooms were disinfected they began filling up with new donations.
This year, admission to the 5 to 9 p.m. pre-sale on Sept 27 will be $5 and a canned good for the food bank.
The early entry gives people a first chance to grab anything that catches their eye.
There is no admission on Sept. 28.
