The Glenshaw Century Club’s holiday craft fair will look a bit different in the face of covid-19 but members were determined to host the festive fundraiser despite scrambling to meet safety guidelines.

“Christmas in the Valley” will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Glenshaw Valley Presbyterian Church, 1520 Butler Plank Road.

Admission is free.

Unlike year’s past, the event will not include a house tour, which is typically a huge draw for participants who are shuttled between three homes decked out for the holidays.

Event Chair Donna Mastandrea said ticket-holders shouldn’t despair.

“This year, you will be able to tour the decorated Glenshaw Valley Presbyterian Church and the historic Lower Glenshaw Library, which is within walking distance of the craft fair,” Mastandrea said.

Founded in 1946, the Century Club is a woman’s group that works to advance education for all. In May 2020, the group doled out 12 scholarships to Shaler Area seniors and hopes to repeat that in 2021, despite the challenges presented by the covid-19 pandemic.

Last year’s holiday fair and spring fashion show combined to bring in $29,000 for the group’s scholarship fund. Money is raised from vendor fees and proceeds from the booths that club members run.

This year’s scaled-down craft fair will still boast more than 30 vendors, an expanded New to You area, raffles and takeout food.

Booths in previous years have included Miss Kitty’s Spreadable Fruit, Yummidoodles, Couture Your Door and Collar My World.

Susan Ball, a club member, said the number of people allowed into the craft fair at one time will be limited.

A local Girl Scout troop made signs and directional arrows to help with social distancing. Attendees are required to wear masks, and there will be hand sanitizing stations at the entrance to all buildings.

To help supplement the scholarship fund, Century Club members have been hosting monthly drive-thru dinner fundraisers catered by Heavenly Cuisine.

Next up is a Thanksgiving-themed dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 6. The menu is roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, coleslaw and pumpkin pie.

The cost is $15 per meal.

To order, call 412-487-7194 by noon Nov. 4 or email glenshawcentury clubinc@gmail.com.
