A bit of cheer
District Judge Matt Rudzki is hosting a holiday open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 21 at his office at 1205 Main Street in Sharpsburg.
All are welcome to visit the District Court office for holiday cheer.

The Sharpsburg Community Library will host a reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 10.
It will be performed by candlelight by an actor in a period costume.
The program is designed for people aged 10 and older.
There will be a separate storytime and craft for younger children going on simultaneously.
Cooper-Siegel Community Library will host the same program from 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 17.

North Optimist toy drive
The Pittsburgh North Optimist Foundation’s toy/gift drive is being held Dec. 9 from noon until 3 p.m. at the Lauri Ann West Community Center’s parking lot, 1220 Powers Run Road.
Santa will hand out candy canes!
Unwrapped toys and gifts will be donatied to the Sharpsburg Family Worship Center’s “give a gift” program to be distributed to children and teens.
O’Hara holiday light recycling
O’Hara Township has partnered with Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling to be an official drop-off location to recycle unwanted holiday lights.
The bin is in the lobby of the township building at 325 Fox Chapel Road. Lights can be dropped off Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Any holiday lights are eligible to be recycled.
