Trees, shrubs available to Sharpsburg residents
Tree Pittsburgh is partnering with Sharpsburg to offer a Tree Adoption event from 4 to 6 p.m. April 26 in Kennedy Park. The event is funded by a grant from the Arbor Day Foundation and Verizon.
Originally, 150 trees and shrubs were available to choose from during pre-registration.
Although the varieties are sold out, Tree Pittsburgh organizers recommend residents still interested in getting a tree or shrub to come at the end of the event as a walk-up to adopt items that are not picked up by registrants.
All of the trees and shrubs will be about two years old and will be small enough to fit into any regular-sized vehicle.
Tree Pittsburgh is an environmental nonprofit organization with a mission to grow and protect the urban forest throughout Allegheny County.

A pizza-making class for adults 21 and older will be offered from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 17. Tickets are $50 and include a 12-inch pizza, topping bar and one cocktail.
A class for children and their families will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 20. Chefs will help youngsters knead and toss the dough, as well as add sauce, cheese and their favorite toppings. The shop’s mascot, Tony Anchovy, will drop in for a visit.
Additional pizza kits will be available for purchase.
Tickets for both classes are $25.
