Area residents reminded to lock homes, vehicles
O’Hara police posted a crime alert on Facebook last week about a report of an individual prowling around a residence June 7 in the Bentley Drive area.
Fox Chapel police also said there were several attempted overnight break-ins that weekend of residences in the area of Dorseyville and Hemlock Hollow roads. Police are requesting the public to check their surveillance videos and contact the department with any suspicious activity.
Area residents are advised to keep their doors and windows locked while at home or away. Motion lighting and locking devices for doors and windows are good deterrents, police said.
Aspinwall police also are reminding area residents to lock their vehicles after a recent spike in reported break-ins in the borough and surrounding communities.
The department requests the public’s help in preventing these “crimes of opportunity.”
Area residents should report any suspicious activity, day or night, by calling 911.
