Book collection

Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy is collecting new and gently used books through November.

The Thanksgiving Book Drive will benefit UPMC Children’s Hospital’s Adopt-a-Book Library and is sponsored by CDTCA’s preschool, third and fourth grades.

The books can be dropped off at the school office at 205 Brilliant Avenue, or in labeled bins in all Christ the King Parish church vestibules.

Optimist fundraiser

The Pittsburgh North Optimist Foundation’s Thanksgiving Fundraiser will be held from 7-11 p.m. Nov. 18 at the RIDC Comfort Inn, 180 Gamma Drive in O’Hara Township.

The event features the Nieds Hotel Band, raffles, appetizers, a buffet dinner, desserts, complementary beer donated by Frank B. Fuhrer’s Wholesale Co. and a cash bar.

Prepaid reservations are $65 per person. Payment at the door will be accepted only after 9 p.m. at $70 per person. Reserved tables are available as well as sponsorships.
