Trick or treat
Trick or treating in Fox Chapel, Indiana Township, Sharpsburg, O’Hara and Blawnox is set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Trick or Treating in Aspinwall will begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 and end at 7:30 p.m. followed by a costume parade beginning at the borough building, 217 Commercial Ave.
AAUW hosts speaker
The American Association of University Women will host a free program, “China’s Influence on the World Stage,” that is open to the public.
Mark Haas, professor of political science at Duquesne University, will speak at 10 a.m. Nov. 14 at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. He will discuss how China is frequently portrayed as being dangerously close to challenging America’s global superiority.
He’ll examine why fears of a rising China may be overblown and why the United States’ economic and military dominance are likely to continue. A professor for 20 years, Haas specializes in international security.
Volunteers needed for Aspinwall committee
Aspinwall is looking for volunteers to participate in its Implementable Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. Volunteers must be residents of the borough.

Food pantry to open
Blawnox inaugural food pantry opening is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 27 at the borough building, 376 Freeport Road.
Income and residence verification are not requirements to participate.
Alert program sign up
Indiana Township residents can now sign up for alerts through crimemapping.com, according to an announcement from the township.
The website provides information about recent criminal activity in neighborhoods based on police department records.
Home repair program accepts applications
Allegheny County’s Whole Home Repairs Program will accept applications through Friday, Nov. 17.
Applicants must have an income that does not exceed 80% of the area median income for Allegheny County and live in a house in need of repairs within the county.
The income limit is $56,250 for a single person household and $80,300 for a four-person household.
