Portion of Dorseyville Road to close

The Allegheny County of Public Works announced that Dorseyville Road will be closed beginning Aug. 21 between Rawlins Run Road and Fox Chapel Road in Indiana Township.

The closure is required for replacement of Little Pine Creek Bridge No. 15 and will continue through the end of November.

The detour will be Harts Run Road to Saxonburg Blvd. back to Dorseyville Road. Residents living near the closure will have access to their homes at all times.

Aspinwall Ride with a Cop

Aspinwall Police Department presents Ride with a Cop at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Aspinwall Recreation Area off Field Avenue.

Families are welcome to participate in a bicycle ride around the borough with the officers to be followed by Pizza with a Cop at 7 p.m. back at the park.

That program leads into Movie Night at the park. Show begins around 8:15 p.m. with refreshments and free popcorn. The movie is “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.”

Harvest Fair

The Harvest Fair at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church is collecting donations through Aug. 19. Items accepted include furniture, clothing , jewelry, art, and household goods.

Drop-off times are 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The fair is scheduled for Sept. 8-9.

Art exhibit

Sharpsburg Community Library hosts resident Kristen Postava’s art exhibit, Unfiltered Vision: Art from the Unconventional Mind, Aug. 19 through Sept. 9.

People are welcome to stop by during library hours and enjoy the artwork that predominantly features found materials and discarded items.

Opening reception is scheduled for noon-2 p.m. Aug. 19 at 1212 Main St.

Landlord-tenant program

The Sharpsburg library will host a landlord and tenant rights virtual program watch party at 6 p.m. Aug. 23 at the library.

District Judge Oscar Petite will present virtually. It will focus on various duties and obligations of both parties, as well as cover how a land-lord tenant case gets to court, courtroom etiquette, supporting documentation and other related topics.

It is presented by the Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, a nonpartisan nonprofit, and first in a new, free, legal series.

Series programs will be on the third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Future topics include court basics, necessary legal documents, how to administer an estate and family court.

Golf outing planned

The 10th annual Aspinwall Chamber of Commerce’s golf outing is set for Sept. 8 at 3 Lakes Golf Course, 6700 Saltsburg Road.

Shotgun start is 10 a.m. The event is presented by UPMC St. Margaret.

Proceeds benefit the chamber’s annual community events.

Participants should register and purchase sponsorships by Aug 25.

Beer crawl set

Aspinwall Craft Beer Crawl is set for 2:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

Advance tickets are $40 per person and must be purchased by 11 a.m. Sept. 21.

Tickets day of the event will be $50. Tickets will be limited to 550 attendees.

Participants must be 21 or older. Check-in starts at 1:30 p.m. at the borough building, 217 Commercial Ave.

People can sample domestic and locally distributed craft beers across 10 different restaurants and local businesses. They get a commemorative beer crawl sampling glass, color wristband and map to use as a guide.

Board appointment made

Fox Chapel council appointed Nina Gusmar to fill the unexpired term of Donald F. Smith Jr. on the zoning hearing board. The term expires Dec. 31, 2025.

Council meeting set

Sharpsburg Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at the borough building, 1611 Main St.
