Riverfront Theater Company holding open auditions
Open call auditions for “Into the Woods Jr.-Happily Ever After” for students ages 14-19 in Pittsburgh are being hosted on several dates in May.
The Riverfront Theater Company in Aspinwall will present the one-act show outdoors at Aspinwall Riverfront Park on Aug. 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Remaining auditions are from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on May 15 and 22 at Christ Church Fox Chapel, 630 Riding Meadow Road in Fox Chapel.
Aspinwall townwide yard sale
One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Set up a table and join in. All Aspinwall residents are encouraged to participate in this yearly event.
The event will be June 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bloom ‘Where You Are Planted’ project
The Triboro Ecodistrict Bloom “Where You Are Planted” project is back for 2021, and this year the Garden of Etna is taking the lead. Gardening is a good stress reliever and a great way to have more affordable access to fresh produce.

Basketball summer camp
After a year off, the Fox Chapel boys basketball program will be holding its annual boys basketball summer camp again this year. It will take place in two sessions. The first session will run from June 28 to July 1. The second session will take place from July 12 to July 15.
There will be two age groups. The Little Foxes (pre-K to third grade) will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and the Running Foxes (fourth to ninth graders) will play from 9:30 a.m. until noon.

Virtual conference
Hundreds of women will come together for Women Leading Women’s virtual conference with keynote speaker Dr. Jennifer Ashton on May 14. This mother of two is also a board-certified Ob-Gyn, author and TV medical correspondent. She and longtime friend and Emmy Award-winning journalist Susan Koeppen will show everyone how to embrace and feel empowered at every stage of womanhood.
The debut event will be held virtually at 12:30 p.m. Individual tickets cost $40.

Adopt-a-block program
The Best of Blawnox Organization is introducing a new volunteer opportunity, an adopt-a-block program, for community members.
Adopt-a-block is a volunteer program aimed at keeping the streets of Blawnox free from litter and debris. Volunteers will be assigned one (or more) designated neighborhood blocks to clean up regularly.

Food box distribution
Fox Families Care is partnering with Farmers to Families to provide free fresh food boxes.
The boxes will be available to all families that are eligible for the FCASD free/reduced-lunch program or any family in the school district that is experiencing a financial hardship.
Boxes will be distributed the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 4 to 6 p.m., through May 27.
Pickup will be at Kennedy Park in Sharpsburg or Emmerling Park in Indiana Township.

Meditation sessions
The Pittsburgh Buddhist Center offers weekly online meditation sessions on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The series is designed for beginners. The guide is a Buddhist monk. There is no registration required.
