In-person worship services are scheduled to resume Sunday at Faith United Methodist Church in Fox Chapel.
Services will look slightly different, with all parishioners required to wear face masks and other options for people to remain in their cars, Pastor Scott Shaffer said.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. and will be held outdoors at the church grounds along West Chapel Ridge Road.
Seating will be placed six feet apart, and people who want to stay in their car can park nearby.
Shaffer said his staff has been working on plans to safely resume church services and other programs while following CDC guidelines that help people feel comfortable coming back.
Hand sanitizer will be provided, and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned after every service.
Parishioners will be seated six feet from each other and there won’t be any hand-shaking or hugging, Shaffer said.
Communion won’t be served.
Services still will be livestreamed online for anyone who wants to watch from home.
“We understand that many of our church members will not be able to attend in-person at this time and we’ll continue to connect with one another in safe and appropriate ways,” Shaffer said.
“If you aren’t able to attend, please know that we miss you and we understand that each of us is doing what we need to be safe.”
Roots of Faith in Sharpsburg, run by Faith UMC, will resume its services at 11:30 a.m. July 5.
There, worship will be hosted outdoors as well, in the Kenneth Curly Parklet along 8th Street.
