Tyler Jacobs and Addie Coyle, both third-graders at O’Hara Elementary School meet Fox Chapel K-9 Officer Falco and his handler, Fox Chapel Police Officer Rob Katich, on Feb. 1.

Third-grade students at O’Hara Elementary School got a chance to meet Fox Chapel K-9 Officer Falco and his handler, Fox Chapel Police Officer Rob Katich, on Feb. 1. The visit helped illustrate a reading lesson about training, duties, and partnerships between police dogs and their officers. Falco is a 10 1/2-year-old Dutch shepherd. The visits help develop a good relationship between kids and the police department, “so that they know we’re nothing to be fearful of,” said Katich. “It builds a good, strong bond between police and students at that age.”
