The Fox Chapel park commission is accepting suggestions to name the borough’s new trail connection.
It was formed by combining the existing Old Squaw and Salamander trails, along with the addition of a trail through the borough’s new Hardie Valley Park.
Names should reflect the trail’s importance or the area’s history and can be sent by March 1 to foxchapel@fox-chapel.pa.us.
Park commission members will recommend one name to borough council prior to its meeting March 15.
Snow safety reminder
The Blawnox public works crew is reminding residents to follow snow safety guidelines.
Residents are asked not to shovel snow into the street and use an appropriate amount of salt on sidewalks.
Borough Manager Kathy Ulanowicz said one pound of salt is enough to treat 10 sidewalk squares or a 20-foot driveway.
Meditation sessions slated
The Pittsburgh Buddhist Center will offer weekly meditation sessions from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays.
The series is designed for beginners. The guide is a Buddhist monk, and the techniques taught are secular and appropriate for adults regardless of beliefs or religious affiliations. There is no registration required.
