Lauri Ann West Community Center will adjust its hours for summer beginning May 24.
The site along Powers Run Road in O’Hara will shorten hours Fridays through Sundays because usage drops significantly, officials said.
“Our member’s preferences change during the warm summer months,” Jamie Rhoades, director of development, said.
“People have busy schedules and are spending more time outdoors.”
Summer hours at the center will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. The schedule continues through Labor Day.
Hours remain 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
Officials tested a shortened schedule in 2018, saying they wanted to achieve the best balance between the needs of the members and staff.
Rhoades said the facility still will offer a full slate of programs through the summer months.
In addition to day camp for children ages 3 to 12, there will be specialty sessions with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, UKI Soccer, Gemini Theater, Scoring Factory, CYM Keyboarding and Soccer Shots.
“We’re excited to offer a lot of new summer experiences like Drone 101 Camp, Mad Science Presents Coding Robots and nature camps at Squaw Valley Park,” Rhoades said.
The center is closed on May 27 for Memorial Day, July 4 and Sept. 2 for Labor Day.
