PA Recourses Council sets October electronics recycling collection in North Park
Pennsylvania Resources Council is collecting electronics for recycling on Mondays and Wednesdays in October in North Park.
“We need to divert these materials from landfills since many contain toxic elements that can leach into our waterways and our environment, while others contain valuable resources,” according to PRC Executive Director Darren Spielman.
Collections will be conducted according to the following schedule:
Mondays, Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23; 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Wednesdays, Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25; noon-3 p.m.
Participants must register in advance at www.prc.org/CollectionEvents or by calling 412-488-7490. The precise location of the collection in the park will be provided upon registration.
The cost per-item to recycle is:
• computer monitors (flat screen and CRT) – $20 each
• Televisions – $30 each
• Console or rear projection TVs – $40 each
• Printers – $5 each
Those not paying to dispose of the materials listed above will pay a $5 participant fee for unlimited disposal of cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.) and video game consoles/DVD players.
For collection details, visit www.prc.org/CollectionEvents.
This e-waste collection campaign is sponsored by Allegheny County Health Department and Allegheny County Parks Department.
