Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Steven Brault joined the Pirate Parrot in a visit to Shady Side Academy Junior School on May 22 to congratulate students on their fundraising efforts for needy children.

The Junior School was the grand prize winner of the Project Bundle Up Fundraise the Jolly Roger competition, which helps pay for winter coats, hats and gloves for disadvantaged children in Western Pennsylvania.

Kindergartners brought in $4,645 through their annual Bounce for Bundle-Up project, where family and friends were asked to pledge money for the number of times students dribbled basketballs in a three-minute period.

Brault’s visit included a 30-minute all-school assembly where the Bucco played games with students, answered questions and took photos — all while the Parrot danced alongside him.
