Road projects affecting traffic in several North Hills communities
Several road closures and lane restrictions will affect motorists in the North Hills during the next several weeks.
Following are some of the areas where work is being done:
Franklin Park, Shaler
PennDOT is installing traffic signals at two locations in the North Hills that will require single-lane restrictions between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Sept. 30.
The work is being done in:
• Franklin Park — Wexford Bayne Road (Route 4042); intersection at the southbound I-79 on and off-ramp.
• Shaler — Mt. Royal Boulevard (Route 4019) and Kleber Road/Vilsack Road intersection.
At least one lane will remain open while the work is being done.
McCandless
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that a section of Rochester Road in McCandless will be closed in both directions through November for slide repairs.
The road is closed between Sloop Road and King William Drive.
A posted detour for southbound and northbound traffic follows ReisRun Road around the worksite.
Hampton
Beginning Sept. 14, the bridge over Hardies Lake located at the intersection of Oakhill and West Hardies roads will be closed in both directions for emergency repairs.
The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30.
A detour will be posted.
Ohio Township
Ben Avon Heights Road (Route 4021) is closed for slide repair work between Gass Road and Courtney Mill Road in Ohio.
In addition to repairing the landslide, the project will include reconstruction of the roadway, paving and drainage improvements.
Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 17.
Motorists will be detoured around the work site using Gass and Courtney Mill roads.
