Garden enthusiasts will likely want to circle May 4 on their calendars.
It’s the date of Squaw Run Garden Club’s annual plant and flower sale, where members will present tables of colorful perennials, herbs and vegetables.
The sale will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Squaw Valley Park in O’Hara.
Shoppers can find a bevy of lavender, Iris, peonies and other bright flowers, hanging baskets or bulbs.
Always a favorite section is the booths with plants plucked from gardens of the club’s 30 members.
A community staple nearly 40 years, the sale’s proceeds benefit local projects, member Linda Siegel said.
“The club provides educational grants to local schools,” she said.
O’Hara Elementary School in the Fox Chapel Area School District received money to install a garden on the Cabin Lane campus.
Over the past 10 years, the club has donated more than $15,000 to Aspinwall Riverfront Park, Cooper-Siegel Community Library and Camp Guyasuta.
