Fox Chapel spring musical scheduled
The Fox Chapel Area High School 2021 spring musical, “Songs for a New World,” will be presented online April 15 to 18.
Show times are 7 p.m. on April 15, 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. on April 18.
Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs for a New World” is a collection of scene-songs that takes you on a musical journey through the sharing of individual stories.
While there is no overarching plot and no main character, each scene-song tells the story of an individual or group of people coping with essentially the same thing – the moments in life that seem perfect when, in a flash, everything changes: maybe for the better, maybe for the worst.
The message of these songs is that we are never really alone.
Tickets cost $15. A family ticket costs $25.
Ticket purchasers will receive a link and an access code via email, valid only for the show time purchased. Codes and links cannot be transferred or shared.
Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. on March 15 at showtix4u.com/events/fcahsmusical.

SSA trio raises money with fundraiser
Shady Side Academy Senior School Service Learning Club members and juniors Vanessa Han, Riley Doyle and Ariella Avigad held a fundraiser for the Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF) on Feb. 22-26 and raised more than $800.
They sold custom-made stickers that will be produced in the Glimcher Tech and Design Hub, and they raffled off gift baskets.
Han was the driving force behind the fundraiser. In the fall, she contacted and met with a representative of HCEF to learn more about what they do and who they serve in the Pittsburgh community.
The Homeless Children’s Education Fund’s mission is to advance the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness, guiding them to be productive, empowered citizens.
