Four Fox Chapel Area High School students were selected by audition to perform with the 2023 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region I Band concert March 25 at Butler Intermediate High School.
The students selected were: senior Elijah Conklin, French horn; juniors Elijah Herzer, bass clarinet, and Chloe Kim, clarinet, and sophomore Marina Dunham, bassoon.
The band included 140 of the best student-musicians from 60 high schools from throughout Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

Two Fox Chapel Area High School students were first-place winners in the Prevent Suicide PA Public Service Announcement contest for youth suicide prevention.
Seniors Zoe Broyles and Cali Johnson created a video public service announcement for the 988 National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
The video is featured on the Prevent Suicide PA website. Zoe and Cali have been invited to attend Suicide Prevention Night at the Pittsburgh Pirates game on April 22. The winners will also receive a monetary award, and Prevent Suicide PA will come to Fox Chapel Area High School to provide a mental health awareness training for up to 20 students.
Broyles and Johnson were students of teacher Ryan Devlin’s digital media production class during the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year.
