The Herald area's latest coronavirus numbers for Dec. 9

As coronavirus cases continue to surge in Allegheny County and across the country, the communities within The Herald coverage area have varying numbers of both positive cases and deaths.

As of Dec. 8, there have been 142 total cases of the novel coronavirus in Fox Chapel since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. One death has been reported, and 1,696 tests have been administered to Fox Chapel residents.

Fox Chapel’s case rate is 264 per 10,000 residents.

• Since the pandemic began, Aspinwall has had 39 total cases of the virus. In that time, Aspinwall has seen no deaths and 534 tests have been administered. Aspinwall’s case rate is 139 per 10,000 residents.

• In O’Hara, 212 total cases of the virus have been reported, with one death. O’Hara has had 2,314 residents tested, and the case rate is 252 per 10,000 residents.

• Sharpsburg has had 57 cases of the virus and one death. Tests have been administered to 695 Shapsburg residents, and the case rate is 165 per 10,000 residents.

• In Blawnox, 35 total cases of the virus have been reported, with one death. Blawnox has had 280 residents tested, and the case rate is 244 per 10,000 residents.

• Indiana Township has had 180 cases of the virus with no deaths reported. Tests have been administered to 1,665 Indiana residents, and the case rate is 248 per 10,000 residents.
