Aspinwall High School opened in January 1919 and was situated between Fourth and Sixth streets at the top of Virginia Avenue.
It opened in January 1919 and enrolled students from Aspinwall, O’Hara, Indiana Township, Blawnox and Fox Chapel — and even included students from as far away as Cheswick and Springdale.
The school was put on the map when its 1943 Cavaliers football team (10-0) went undefeated, untied and unscored upon — a feat that has not been repeated since.
The high school closed in 1961 once the current Fox Chapel Area High School was built.
The building went on to house the Fox Chapel Junior High School and Aspinwall Elementary School before it was demolished in 1983.
On the site today stands a U-shaped building of connected condos.
