Pool season begins
Hampton’s outdoor pool complex will open for the season on May 25, with hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The complex includes a heated in-ground pool with a zero-foot walk-in area and spray feature, four adult lap lanes, two small slides, one large slide and two diving boards. Also at the site are two wooden pavilions, a concession area and shaded seating area, and restroom and bath house facilities.
Memorial Day service
Hampton American Legion Post 296’s annual Memorial Day service is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 27 at the Veterans War Memorial next to the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road.
Hampton Farmer’s Market
The Hampton Farmer’s Market opens June 5 and runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 9, also in the community center parking lot.
Various food trucks will visit the market throughout the season. The tentative lineup, subject to change, includes Benvenuti’s Pizza Factory and the BoonSeek (Korean food), June 5; Cool Beans Taco Truck, June 12; Benvenuti’s, June 19; and Cousins Maine Lobster, June 26.
Fundraiser features authors
“For the Love of Books,” the annual fundraiser for the AAUW North Hills Pittsburgh, will feature a gathering of three area authors to discuss their books and answer questions during a panel discussion.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 1 at La Roche University, 9000 Babcock Blvd., McCandless. Participation assists AAUW North Hills Pittsburgh to raise funds for scholarships and support the group’s mission for women and girls. For more information, visit wp.me/pdl2o4-mg.
