Glass recycling bin offered
Allegheny County and the Pennsylvania Resources Council are offering a Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program in county parks.
Locally, a bin will be at Hartwood Acres Park from 7 a.m. to sundown Sept. 17-22 in the amphitheater overflow lot off Middle Road. Residents can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors. No color sorting is required.
Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on. Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.
Car show set for Sept. 10
Hampton Presbyterian Church is hosting its fourth car show of the year from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 10.
All makes and models are welcome. Music will be provided by music by DJ Denny Dutko.

Depreciation Lands Museum events
Mark your calendars for these events at Depreciation Lands Museum, 4743 S. Pioneer Road, Hampton:
• Hydref, the museum’s fall festival, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 1. The museum comes alive with re-enactors, demonstrators, craftspeople, food, music and children’s activities. Admission is charged.
• Lantern tours, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 22. A quiet, family-oriented, historical alternative to Halloween. Prepaid tickets are required.
• Beggar’s Day, Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Oct. 30. The last Sunday to visit the museum for the season offers old-fashioned Halloween “begging” for all costumed children.

Music at AARP meeting
AARP No. 595 welcomes members and guests to its meeting at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6, featuring the Crooks & Klein Duo singing solos and duets of traditional, religious, oldies and big band tunes.
Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2842 E Hardies Road, Hampton. Annual membership is $7 per person. Join for fun, friendship and trips.
Sealarks Women’s kickoff dinner
The Sealarks Women’s Group kickoff dinner is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, McCandless.
The group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women who are alone: widowed, divorced or never married. All are welcome to attend and consider joining the group.

Omelet/sausage breakfast
The Elfinwild Lions Club is sponsoring a freewill-offering omelet/sausage breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sept. 10 at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church, Mt. Royal Boulevard. Breakfast consists of Western or cheese omelet, sausage, potatoes, fruit cup and choice of drink.
Church hosts presentation
Sgt. Eric Egli, supervisor of investigations for McCandless police, will present “Crimes Targeting Senior Citizens” at 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Road, near McIntyre Square.
He will offer information to help you to protect yourself from online scams, phone scams and distraction crimes.
Farmer’s market held Wednesdays
The Township of Hampton Farmer’s Market is held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through mid-October in the lower parking lot of the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road.
Vendors for 2022 include Bates & Hayes Kettlekorn, Carlos Aviles Farms, Cindy Munchies, Cunning House Supply Co., Gabriel’s Gardens, Halal Gyro Guys, Loafers Bread Co., Mazzotta Winery, Olive & Marlowe, Russelton Bee Works, Saylors Farm and Sweetwater Farms.
