Legislator hosts senior expo
State Rep. Lori Mizgorski, R-Shaler, will host a senior expo for Allegheny County residents from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 23 at the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road.
The senior expo brings together exhibitors from local, county and state agencies to inform attendees of services available to them. There will also be free health screenings, flu shots (bring medical insurance card), light refreshments and door prizes. Applications for Pittsburgh Regional Transit ConnectCards will be available.
Admission is free. Any questions may be directed to Mizgorski’s district office at 412-487-6605.
Civil War Roundtable
Kevin Waddell will present “Lincoln’s Forgotten Admiral: The Life of Samuel Francis Dupont” when the Greater Pittsburgh Civil War Roundtable meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Hampton Township Community Center, 1301 McCully Road.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Masks are required.
Glass recycling bin offered
Allegheny County and the Pennsylvania Resources Council are offering a Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program in county parks.
Locally, a bin will be at Hartwood Acres Park from 7 a.m. to sundown Sept. 17-22 in the amphitheater overflow lot off Middle Road. Residents can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors. No color sorting is required.
Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on. Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.
AARP meets
AARP 595 welcomes new members and guests to its meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. at Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2842 E. Hardies Road. Join for great fellowship, luncheons, entertainment and trips.
The next meeting is Oct. 4, and reservations are required by calling 412-486-7465. Dues are $7 per year.
Olé 5K in North Park
TASH’s 14th Annual Olé 5K will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Harmar Grove Pavilion in North Park.
TASH is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit that has worked in Oaxaca, Mexico, since 1998. It aims to bridge the community of Pittsburgh with the people in Mexico.
At the conclusion of the Olé 5K Benefit race, there will be a Mexican buffet, Oaxaca-grown organic coffee, smoothies, 50/50 raffle, music and an awards ceremony.

College fair scheduled
More than 120 colleges and universities will participate in the North Pittsburgh College Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center at La Roche University’s campus in McCandless. Depreciation Lands Museum events
Mark your calendars for these events at Depreciation Lands Museum, 4743 S. Pioneer Road, Hampton:
• Hydref, the museum’s fall festival, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 1. The museum comes alive with reenactors, demonstrators, craftspeople, food, music and children’s activities. Admission is charged.
• Lantern tours, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 22. A quiet, family-oriented, historical alternative to Halloween. Prepaid tickets are required.
• Beggar’s Day, Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Oct. 30. The last Sunday to visit the museum for the season offers old-fashioned Halloween “begging” for all costumed children.

Farmer’s market held Wednesdays
The Township of Hampton Farmer’s Market is held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through mid-October in the lower parking lot of the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road.
